Consumer Education in Lithuania is a general education which is dedicated to developing the knowledge, understanding, and skills that a person needs in order to live in a consumer society.

On November 11, 2003, the Lithuanian Republic Government approved the Lithuania Consumer Education Program, Number 1404. The purpose of this program is to educate the consumer with the knowledge and ability necessary to make wise choices for goods and services used in everyday life, both personal and professional.

The Consumer Education Program is divided into three areas:

  • Consumer Education: the consumer is educated to understand consumer rights, to make thoughtful decision, and to process and understand information.
  • Consumer Information: the consumer can receive the necessary information for understanding his/her consumer rights.
  • Consumer Consultation: the consumer can receive theoretical and practical assistance in defending their consumer rights. More
